When the thoughts of getting married cross the mind many people think of the summer months and the warm evenings
But you know what, think like that and you'd be missing a trick.
The late Autumn and Winter time is, photographically, such a beautiful time of year, low sunlight, early sunsets, and magical feel that only comes when there's a chill in the air.
This is exactly the thoughts Hazel & Simon had when decided to get hitched on the 5th of November this year at Hill Holts Woods just in-between Lincoln and Newark.
It's always a worry, I suppose, the weather, but we certainly lucked out and low and behold it was a beautiful day. We had sun nearly the whole day, a spot of rain when leaving the church but that's counted as lucky in the wedding circles these days...
Hazel & Simon had chosen to wed at the beautiful Victorian Gothic All Saints Church in Hykeham, Lincoln and were to hold the festivities at the amazing natural woodland setting of Hill Holt Wood. Oh my gosh what a beautiful place to celebrate the union of this lovely couple. Set deep in an ancient forest, the tranquility there really set the day off.By the time we arrived at the venue the sun had just entered the golden phase and I was actually blown away at how awesome it looked and with Hazel and Simon looking just as awesome how could I loose.
Of course knowing how to use the natural light combined with artificial lighting is essential in these circumstances and this is why it's so important to hire a professional to do a proper job.
I had no problems getting these guys to look lovingly at each other, as you can see. It came so natural to them and you could see just how much they were in love. It's on these occasions I feel so lucky to do what I do. Being party to these special moments in people's lives is a real honour that I'm thankful for every wedding I shoot.
The centrepiece at Hill Holt wood is the amazing wooden domed rammed earth hall with its beautiful natural lighting and organic feel which opens out into the reception hall. It looked so amazing all decked out and really was perfect for the celebrations.
I don't think there's a more naturally beautiful place for a wedding in Lincolnshire or Nottinghamshire, not that I know of anyway.
All in all it was such a perfect day for Hazel and Simon and I couldn't wish them more happiness if I tried. A really wonderful couple with amazingly warm family and friends that made me feel so welcome and I felt privileged to share in Hazel & Simons love for one another. Congratulations to you both and thank you..
